COVID-19 Updates

March 13, 2020 - Suspension of Baseball Activities

Kamloops Minor Baseball is suspending our baseball activities.

Today Baseball BC suspended all baseball activities for 7 days given the heightened concerns over the potential spread of COVID-19. Baseball BC will be re-evaluating next week and issue further direction at that time. BC Minor Baseball and Baseball Canada have released similar advisories.

The health and safety of all the KMBA participants and families is of the utmost importance and is central to any decisions KMBA is making in this regard. The response to this pandemic is changing daily. We will continue to follow the guidelines set forth by our governing bodies, the public health authorities, and government.

We are still several weeks away from opening day and hope that the swift actions being taken now across the country, will allow us to get back to normalcy much quicker.

KMBA will provide an update to our families next week, or as soon as any significant decision is made.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this unprecedented event.

Chris Balison, President
Kamloops Minor Baseball

About Bantam

The remaining Bantam players interlock in a league of Interior Associations with the opportunity to try out for a summer season select team.

Ages

Currently open to kids born in 2005 and 2006.

Required Equipment

Glove, helmet, baseball pants, and a protective cup.

Seasons of Play

Fall Baseball (September)

Fall baseball is comprised of players who will be entering the division in the following year as well as players who will be moving into their second year. This is typically players in grades 8 and 9. Usually run 3 nights a week, the players practice and scrimmage with each other. KMBA enters the Bantam group in the annual BLE Best of the West at the end of September.

Registration opens in August each year and spots are limited.

Winterball (January-March)

Winterball is run in our first class indoor training facility: Sussex Insurance Centre on McArthur Island. Winterball is designed to offer the players instruction on many of the fundamentals that can get lost in the busy Spring Season. Winterball is an important program for players who wish to try out for the single-season team: Bantam Jr. Riverdogs.

Registration opens in November each year and spots are limited.

Single Season (April-August)

KMBA is pleased to offer an elite level of baseball in the Bantam division. The Bantam Jr. Riverdogs are a select all-star team that play in a province-wide league for the entire season.

Spring Season (April-June)

Players can expect about 2-3 practices/games per week. All players will be evaluated in early April and then drafted into their teams.

All spring season teams compete in a league comprised of other Interior/Okanagan teams.

Registration opens in November each year.

Summer "Riverdogs" Season (July)

In May, players are given the opportunity to try out for one of KMBA's Summer Select teams. Each summer KMBA is dedicated to fielding as many summer teams as possible. These all-star teams represent KMBA as Riverdogs play in tournaments against other associations from around the province culminating with the provincial championship.

In Bantam we try and field a team at the Single-A level.
