KMBA Return to Play Information

Return to Play - as of June 21, 2020 - Policy Creation and Planning Stage

We are currently in the policy and planning stages of a return to play. Before we can begin working on the activities or programs themselves, we are required to complete several administrative steps.

Our programming is restricted by several Provincial Guidelines (see links on the right), including 2m physical distancing requirements and small group training only. Our Board of Directors have reviewed all the Guidelines and restrictions and wish to re-start our baseball activities in a slow and measured way.

With this in mind, we are working to develop Return to Play Plans, Policies (see below), and a training program that falls within the Guidelines and is in line with the Five Principles from BC's Restart Plan.

Personal Hygiene

  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the field and participants are asked to also bring their own.
  • Participants will refrain from physical contact with all other individuals while at the field.

Stay Home If You Are Sick

  • Participants must assess their own state of health before leaving home to attend programming
  • Coaches will do wellness screening of players when they arrive.

Environmental Hygiene

  • All training equipment (screens, rakes, balls, etc.) will be sanitized before and after use.
  • Minimal sharing of KMBA equipment whenever possible.
  • No sharing of water bottles, food, or any personal equipment.
  • No spitting, gum, or sunflower seeds permitted.

Safe Social Interactions

  • Players are to arrive at the field ready to train and are not to get changed at the field.
  • Each training group will stay together for the training weeks to limit the amount of contacts.
  • Participants will always maintain 2m physical distancing from others.
  • Any coach that must move within 2m of physical distance to tend to a player will wear a mask and/or gloves.
  • Reduced volume of participants such that each session will only have about 6-8 players.

Physical Modifications

  • Use of cones and markers to clearly define training areas for each group of participants.
  • Players, coaches, and designated volunteers at the field only.
  • Spectators will be limited.

KMBA COVID-19 Plans and Policies

Prior to re-starting, viaSport, Baseball BC, and BC Minor Baseball require KMBA to develop the following Plans and Policies:

  • COVID-19 Safety Plan - link
  • First Aid and Outbreak Plan - link
  • Wellness Screening and Illness Policy - link

For all players and coaches, BC Minor Baseball requires families to complete additional documents, including a standard sport participation waiver and a COVID-19 Declaration of Compliance (that you will not participate in certain circumstances).

In addition, KMBA requires the completion of and Agreement and Assumption of Risk document, acknowledging that there is risk to participating and KMBA can't eliminate all risks.
