Kamloops Minor Baseball Association is currently looking to fill the position of Technical Director/Community Coach. This is a full time, multi-faceted role consisting of a technical director position which would be under the umbrella of KMBA along with a Community Coach position that would be self-driven with the support of KMBA.

KMBA Technical Director

This a comprehensive role with broad responsibilities for the overall development of baseball in Kamloops. Specific areas of responsibility include:

  • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to coaches at all levels in the association including the creation of practice plans for each age division with appropriate follow up
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase the level of participation in baseball at the grassroots level
  • Maintain records and monitor progress of coaches to ensure coaching accreditation requirements of Baseball BC and BC Baseball
  • Lead implementation of Winterball Program in K-6 schools within KMBA's geographical boundaries along with KMBA's in house winter programming
  • Direct the high performance program including the recruiting of high performance athletes and coaches
  • Lead the selection and development of all coaches and assistant coaches for the high performance programs
  • Ensure compliance with the rules of KMBA's governing bodies including submission of rosters, player releases, criminal record checks for coaches, etc.
  • Holding coaching clinics throughout the year
  • Holding player clinics as needed for the different divisions including specific position clinics such as pitching and catching
  • Assisting with tournament organization including Zone, Provincial or other similar events
  • Organizing and running division drafts
  • Organizing and running division evaluations

Community Coach

  • Coaching KMBA Fall Programming
  • Coaching a KMBA rep program either at the Bantam AAA or College Prep Level
  • Organizing and coaching spring travel teams to Arizona
  • Providing one on one coaching and clinics
  • Running and administering summer camps
  • In addition, there would also be opportunities to partner with Thompson Rivers University to provide coaching support for their college program

Qualifications (for both positions):

  • Proven ability to provide effective leadership and direction to both a paid and volunteer resource base
  • Must possess excellent management and relationship building skills. Must be able to build and maintain credibility with key stakeholders such as baseball coaches within the association and the region
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with all key stakeholders including KMBA staff and coordinators, KMBA Board members, and association volunteers, via written reports, formal and informal presentations and day to day interactions
  • Demonstrated ability in baseball program development, administration, and delivery. Must possess strong visionary and planning skills
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and programs at a time. Must be highly self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as in a team
  • Ability to work flex hours to support baseball activities during evenings and weekends as required, particularly during the program intensive in-season period
  • Must have a passion for baseball with an emphasis on support for grassroots athletes and coaches
  • Minimum of NCCP Provincial Trained status is preferred

Salaries and Benefits:

Technical Director - Remuneration will commensurate with qualifications and experience

Community Coach - Remuneration for this position would be based on the time available and the number of tasks an individual is willing to take on

The combination of these two positions has the potential to provide full time income in the range of $40,000 to $60,000 per year for the right candidate.
